Topographic Surveys
A topographic survey captures the three-dimensional shape of the land to be developed or improved in a construction site.
Topo surveys measure elevations, contours, and existing site features to provide the foundational dataset that engineers and designers rely on for site planning, drainage modeling, and grading design. The process involves establishing ground control, collecting spot elevations and breaklines across the site, and delivering a finished product as a 2D drawing or 3D surface model formatted for direct integration into civil design software.
- Ground Elevations: Shows the height and slope of the land across the site
- Contour Lines: Illustrates changes in elevation and the overall shape of the terrain
- Natural Features: Identifies trees, water bodies, ditches, wetlands, and other site conditions
- Man-made Features: Locates buildings, fences, walls, roads, sidewalks, curbs, and pavement
- Utilities: Shows visible or marked utility features such as manholes, valves, meters, and utility poles
- Drainage Patterns: Helps determine how water flows across or away from the property
- Spot Elevations: Provides specific elevation points for key areas of the site
- Site Planning data: Supports engineering, grading, drainage, and construction design
- Existing Improvements: Documents current structures and developed areas on the property
- Design Support: Gives architects, engineers, and contractors the field data needed to plan accurately
